Barcelona D2

Churros for breakfast at the café opposite our hotel

Sagrada Familia which is just a few minutes walk from our hotel

Spent a bit of time outside appreciating the details of the different sides of the building

No words could describe the feeling when you first step in and look up
It was designed to mirror the nature (tress and branches)

Nice tinted glass windows

More of it..

Where Gaudi's resting place was

The history
In 1883, Gaudi was given the job of building the Sagrada Familia. Though he worked on this project for 43 years, it was during the last 10 years that he exclusively dedicated his art and all his energies to it in a full service to God's glory.
On occasions, he had expressed a desire to die in a hospital among the poor people. This came to pass when he was run down by a street car. The city police did not recognize him and seeing him as a poor man, they took him to the Holy Cross Hospital, where he died on June 10 1926. The last words he uttered were "Amen, My God, my God!"

After exiting from the souvenir shop.. another chance to appreciate the exterior with the 3 grand facades
The Nativity façade to the East, the Passion façade to the West and the Glory façade to the South (not completed)
Work is still on-going after so many years and it is projected to be finally completed in about 10 years' time

The old and the new part which was built later

After the long morning, it is time for some shopping
Look at the space at the front of this shop.. how much money they have earned from the football fanatics
But of cos.. we gotta buy some for the football fans among our family and friends too..

Cassa Batlo
Did not go in.. as we decided to go to La Pedera instead

La Pedera also known as Casa Mila

Again, just like Palau Guell, the rooftop is impressive...
Something that my photo cannot do justice to

This apartment is another of Gaudi's work
At that time it was very controversial due to the bold undulating stone façade and twisted wrought iron that decorated that balconies and windows.

The children's room

Part of the kitchen

The study room

The main door which allows you to look outside at the guest without opening the door

Then off we went to  Arenas de Barcelona
Previously used for bullfighting, now a shopping complex

Opposite the Arenas de Barcelona is the magical fountain (Font Magica de Montjuic)

Quite impressive

As we have quite a lot of time.. we took our time to take photos at the fountain

More pics of the magical fountain.
Lots of pple taking selfies

Walked to the Spanish Village (Poble Espanyol de Barcelona)

A touristy area with shops lining the streets
But the price was not too bad given that it was a tourist spot

Nice things along the way

Walked back to the magical fountain
Daddy walked all the way up to take the pic

More time to waste before the magical fountain show which will begin after the sun set

So off we went for some shopping

In the Arenas de Barcelona
Had our dinner here

After being very satisfied with shopping, here we are..
Back at the magical fountain

Nice colours and look at the crowd..
We barely had space to stand..

It was enjoyable I must say
Prefer real music and fountain to ours at Sentosa

The Arenas at night
We paid 2 Euros to take the lift up to the rooftop for the night view

It was well worth it!

The view from the top
We came just before the musical fountain ended.. so could still enjoy the beautiful lights from here..
Another great day at Barcelona.. we are beginning to fall in love with the place
