Rome D1

Last day in Venice
We had to take a photo of this bridge that we had to lug our luggages all the way up and then down to get to the hotel
Luckily we are taking a train to Rome and would not need to go up the bridge again!!!

At the train station waiting for our train to Rome
The police were doing their random checks and we were picked..
Luckily we had a lot of time to waste that morning

Reached Rome
Hotel Anahi.. a really really good hotel.. comfortable, clean and very near the Spanish steps
Most of the things within walking distance
Very glad to be here after staying in the hotel in Venice with no lifts and no aircon

Many horse carriages
The horses all looked really tired.. I would not bear to sit on any one of them..

The Spanish Steps
A Staircase constructed using 138 steps
During the 18th century, the Spanish Steps was a meeting place for both artist, poets etc

The Fountain of the Old Boat (Fontana della Barcaccia)
Shape of a half-sunken ship with water overflowing its bows.
The story behind the ship is that the River Tiber flooded before the city walls were built and in 1958 there was a very bad flood and the Piazza di Spagna was flooded up to a meter. Once the water withdrew, a boat was left behind in the square

Trevis Fountain
Came here with my parents more than 10 years ago
made a wish and had to come back together with my husband..

The hubby making a wish
Although the fountain is under maintenance, there is still a place for throwing of coins and making wishes
May his wishes come true..

Vittoriano
The monument holds the tomb of the unknown soldier with an eternal flame

Al fresco dinner
After being at Spain, Italian food is heavenly..

We decided we need to pamper ourselves with food and a very slow dinner

Duck

My salmon steak

One of the nicest dinner so far!!

We decided that we wanted to have the day and night view of the major attractions, and hence we went back to Trevis fountain

And the Fountain of the Old Boat
