Along Del Corso which is just minutes from our hotel
Their main shopping street.. one last attempt to shop..
That marks the end of our trip...
We decided to go to the airport early to settle the tax refund matters
Extremely bad experience at the airport which I have to blog about.
We queued up at the tax refund counter before checking in, then was told that we have to check in first and then ask to take out the checked in luggage to the tax refund counter. We waited and finally the counter opened, checked in and took the luggage to queue up again at the tax refund counter. We were treated like beggars, the man did not even want to talk to us properly, no eye contact and wanted to serve many pple at the same time. He literally threw the receipts and our boarding pass on the counter and made a mess that many of us were worried that things might be lost.
Then we could not get the stamp for a watch we bought because the watch was not for check in.. so we were told to now go back to check in our luggage and go to another counter after security check to get a stamp for the tax refund for the watch.
Went in and had to queue up for this stamp. The gal in front of us bought so many items and had to dig them out one by one to show it to the officer to get a stamp. One of the Korean ladies is almost in tears in the queue.
That is NOT the end of the story. We had to queue up (very long queue) to get the actual tax refund. All the efforts above were just to get the stamp for tax refund. At the queue, there was a mini drama as someone cut queue and got scolded. There were pple who were almost late for their flights. There goes our plan of shopping at the airport and in the end I had to rush to get some last min souvenirs and food for some of my colleagues and frens..
Bye Rome.. A great city, A great trip.. not a very great end to it.. |
